I started using Marie France Original Kojic Soap in 2014 as the Kojie San brand doesn’t work well on me anymore. Kojie San no longer gives the same lightening effect as it does during its early years as they have not been very consistent with the formulation of their product and I was not very happy about.
So I looked for an alternative which have a potent formulation and that’s when I have heard about the Marie France Kojic Soap, which is carried by obviously, Marie France, a company that has been leading in the beauty and wellness industry for 30 years in the Philippines. The product is on the pricey side compared to other kojic soaps in the market, but I’ve found that it works better than other brands.

What Makes it More Effective than Kojie San?
The Marie France kojic acid soap comes in a 150g bar that contains kojic acid and papain (from papaya) as the main ingredients. Both kojic acid and papaya are known to be effective whitening agents, so combining them into one soap was definitely a brilliant idea. Notably, the soap also contains virgin coconut oil, aloe vera, glycerin, and vitamin E.
What makes the Marie France kojic soap different from Kojie San is that it has pure kojic acid, which has a higher concentration hence making it more effective. The company also claimed that you should see significant result in just a matter of 2 weeks. What’s more, unlike other brands, I noticed that the product follows proper labeling as required by the USFDA, so you could be sure about where the product comes from.
Virgin Coconut Oil, Aloe Vera (recently added), Glycerin, Pure Kojic Acid Extract, Papaya Extract, Vitamin E.
Proper Usage of Marie France Kojic Acid Soap
Since the soap contains pure kojic acid, the company has really made an effort on how to use this soap properly to avoid any adverse reaction. I made sure to follow the instructions from Marie France official website and the following steps are recommended:
- Before using the product, remove makeup first using a mild facial cleanser.
- Wet your skin with warm water, then gently massage the soap for no more than 15 seconds during the first week of usage.
- Do not rub and make sure that it doesn’t get into your eyes, nose or mouth! Rinse with cold water.
- Use the soap only once a day for the first week. On the second week, you can start using the soap twice daily for no more than 30 seconds.
- Moisturize. It is recommend that you combine this soap with other Marie France’s moisturizers such as Marie France Tone Perfecting Creme for the face or the Tone Perfecting Lotion for the body. I didn’t purchase these two products though, I just bought a cheaper brand of heavy lotion — Vaseline Healthy White lotion to be specific.
A word of caution: Like other kojic acid soap brands, if you have sensitive skin, this soap would cause irritation. Moreover, avoid being under the sun for too long. Whenever you go out, don’t forget to use sunscreen!
Before and After Photos
Take a look at my skin tone in 2004. I started using Kojie San in 2008 and saw the optimum lightening effect in 2010. Then, I noticed that my skin tone doesn’t improve anymore so I started using kojic acid soap with stronger kojic acid formulation which is the Marie France brand.
So in 2014, I started using Marie France brand and very impressed that my skin continued to lighten. Note that between 2010 to 2014, I have also used other kojic soap brands such as Royale Kojic and Diana Stalder Kojic. In the end, I settled with Marie France because it’s a trusted brand and gave me the most satisfying lightening result.
