This face wash is everywhere in every beauty store in Japan. I first saw this face wash in Don Quijote, Yokohama. It’s a Japanese product but everything on its front label is English which was one of the reasons why I bought it. But, the main reason why I bought this on top of other Japanese brands is because of its attractive colorful packaging design. Eye catching.
So let’s see if there’s something really special about this facial wash.
I don’t read Japanese yet, I’ll just show the picture of the back label in case can read Nihonggo.
How did it work for me
Surprisingly, since I started using the Face Wash, I never had any breakouts on my face. I don’t know why or how. But yes, really. I had no break outs at all! Was it really the Face Wash or my hormones?
So I did a little experiment. I switched back to my previous facial wash for 2 days and UGH nyah!! I developed one or two pimples! Then I switched back to using Mellsavon Face Wash again. Believe or not, those pimples just dried out the day after.
Did it really work for me? In terms of helping my skin prevents breakout and oiliness, YES. It works wonder on me. However, using this product long term sags my face which is bad (read my PROS and CONS for more details).
Mellsavon Face Wash versus Whip Face Wash
What’s the difference? Same ingredients but only in different form? [Couldn’t really tell as back label is all Japanese].
The Face Wash actually reminds me of Ponds cleanser (texture and color), and they have also have the same smell. While the Whip Face Wash is obviously, made of whip (see photo above) and experts say whip facial wash are very gentle on your face.
Now let’s go to my favorite part, the PROS and CONS.[table id=1 /]
I LOVE these two products when it comes to fighting pimples and preventing oiliness (I have a combination type skin), however, I cannot continue or buy it again because of the product’s major downfall — it makes my skin tight after rinse, which may indicate that this product contains harsh chemicals or ingredients, which eventually, continuous use may lose your skin’s elasticity and leads to sagging.
